The new service will automatically scan incoming and outgoing e-mail for currently know viruses. The virus list (definitions) is automatically updated daily. This is the best way to protect from e-mail viruses.

As with any anti-virus solution, this will only protect against known viruses. Each new virus must be detected and an anti-virus definition (cure) developed by the anti-virus companies. The time frame from detection to cure varies, but is usually within a few days. Our software downloads the latest definitions daily.

This service runs on ITLnet e-mail server(s) and only protects ITLnet mailboxes. Other e-mail services, such as Hotmail and Yahoo, will not be protected by this service. Other means of virus contraction, such as downloading programs via the web browser will not be protected.
