NewsOK.com -- Average Oklahoma teacher pay ranks second worst among states, teachers union officials said Tuesday, calling it an embarrassment that won't likely improve for another two years.

Oklahoma's average salary of $35,061 ranks 50th on the National Education Association's list, which also measures the District of Columbia. Teachers in South Dakota make an average $33,236, the lowest in the nation, the report shows.
