A ghost is the spirit of a dead person capable of making itself seen or heard by the living. Belief in, and worship of, ghosts was common in ancient societies and is still found today.
The forms ghosts are beileved to take differ from culture to culture. They can include the solid or transparent likeness of the deceased, strange lights, or a disemodied voice. Poltergeists are disruptive ghosts who move or break objects. There is no scientifically accepted evidence of the existence of ghosts.
